Belmont University's Office of Student Engagement and Leadership Development recently recognized significant student achievement by hosting its Divisional Awards Ceremony. Students were honored for their exemplification of Belmont's Community Commitments, involvment in campus life, service to the Belmont community, participation in campus leadership, potential for leadership development, contribution to the Greek community and more.

The following students achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the Spring 2017 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

A group of Belmont students recently participated in the International Collegiate DECA Competition, an opportunity for budding professionals to put their business acumen to the test, and swept the award categories. Every one of Belmont's individual event finalists placed in the top ten of their events and five student teams advanced to the final round of the Entrepreneurship Challenge, among 52 teams. Three groups placed in the Challenge's top ten and one of those teams received first place.

Instead of traveling the country or spending their fall breaks visiting family, 70 members of the Belmont community spent time serving in five locations across the U.S. as part of the University's "Plunge" Fall Break program.

Alpha Chi is the oldest and most prestigious honor society at Belmont University, and induction into the society is the University's highest academic honor awarded. Membership is by invitation only as determined by faculty endorsement of character and intellect of junior and senior students ranking academically in the top 10 percent of the University.

A group of 35 Belmont University students chose to participate in "Immersion Trips" over spring break to contribute to the community and focus on personal reflection.

Belmont's College of Sciences and Mathematics hosted its 12th Science Undergraduate Research Symposium (SURS) Dec. 3 featuring more than 55 students. Participants presented research posters in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, neuroscience, environmental science, chemistry, physics and honors-psychology. An additional 24 individual and group oral presentations in psychology were included in the event.

Belmont students recently performed in the "Christmas at Belmont" concert at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center, a performance which was taped live and will air nationally this holiday season on PBS. Hosted by two-time Grammy winner Kathy Mattea, more than 700 student musicians joined Belmont School of Music faculty and the Nashville Children's Choir for the taping of "Christmas at Belmont."

As part of Belmont University's "Maymester" Session, eight students traveled to Pine Ridge, South Dakota to study the history and culture of the Western U.S.

Belmont students introduce Nashville to their new mayor by publishing candidate profile pieces in The Tennessean.

A total of 6 students from Belmont University recently earned their Certificate in Principles of Public Relations, confirming knowledge of the basic principles necessary for entry into the public relations profession.

Eighteen students from Nashville's Belmont University traveled to Park City, Utah to work the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

22 Students from Belmont University traveled to Los Angeles to work Grammy Week 2015 events. 

Dozens of Belmont students joined their peers from across the city Jan. 17, 2015, to carry on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when they spent five hours volunteering in the fifth annual MLK Day of Service.

Belmont student Tim Downey made an impact at Nashville's 2014 Next Awards when he was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

A class of Belmont University students have join their professor, legendary musician and The Turtles founding member Mark Volman, for an East Coast run of the "Happy Together Tour" for the third consecutive year. The tour's "classroom" and schedule include one tour bus, a precious few hotel rooms, long hours and many stages--for two and a half weeks and a grade.
