A Dream to Revisualize Incarcerated Communities Through Art and Storytelling

Hayley Newton, a senior faith and social justice major at Belmont, is leveraging her passion for art to address social inequalities and restore dignity to marginalized groups. As a staff member at Room In The Inn, Newton uses art to ethically share stories of those experiencing homelessness. Looking ahead, Newton hopes to bring theatre into incarcerated spaces to restore humanity and dignity to justice-impacted populations while fostering practical skills.

Alex Greve, a rising senior at Belmont University pursuing computer science, developed a passion for technology from a young age and is now focused on integrating advanced technology into education. Greve is currently interning with Brown Univeristy's computer vision & machine learning department to study how computers see and how they quantify humans interacting with the environment.

Student Lands "Dream Internship" at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute this Summer

Beginning her days with the sights and sounds of whales, Belmont senior and marine biology and publishing double major Samantha Rodriguez is spending the summer at the deep sea bioluminescence lab at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) in Moss Landing, California. After arriving there 3 weeks ago, Rodriguez said she's been immersed in a unique environment, with an underwater canyon, that provides easy access to the deep sea.
