Each year, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board awards scholarships to students pursuing an education in accounting and auditing. This year it was awarded to graduate accounting student Elena Steffa. The $15,000 award encourages students to take their education to new heights.

Armbruster Named Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Scholar of the Year

John Armbruster, Belmont University accounting student and member of the Belmont Men's Soccer Team, has been named the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholar for the 2021-2022 academic year. The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation that oversees auditors of issuers and broker-dealers. The nonprofit has been awarding academic scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students since 2011.

Bernaba Receives BlueCross BlueShield Power of We Scholarship

Belmont University senior nursing major Veronica Bernaba was recently selected as one of six 2021 recipients of the BlueCross Power of We Scholarship. The scholarship, funded by the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation, awards $10,000 to outstanding minority students pursuing careers in the health care field with a goal of helping to reduce health disparities by improving diversity in the state's health care workforce and combating systemic racism and injustice.

Belmont Welcomes Two Newest E.S. Rose Scholars

Sana Fatah and Suad Mohamed, both graduates of Hume-Fogg Academic High School in Nashville, started at Belmont University this fall as freshmen recipients of the E.S. Rose Scholarship, created to honor the memory of E. S. Rose, an African-American religious and Edgehill community activist who served as pastor of Greater Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Each year, Belmont awards two full scholarships to students distinguished by their record of academic achievement and leadership. Every other academic year, Belmont offers an additional half-tuition scholarship as funds allow. Highest consideration is given to Metro Nashville Public School students who meet the scholarship criteria and whose permanent residence is located within Metro Council districts 17, 19 and parts of 18.

Hendrickson Receives 2017 ASCAP Foundation Bart Howard Songwriters Scholarship

Chloe Hendrickson has been named the 2017 recipient of The ASCAP Foundation Bart Howard Songwriters Scholarship at Belmont University. Hendrickson's award-winning song "Lightening" was selected as the best entry based on its compositional elements, artistry and professionalism.

Inaugural McWhorter Society Scholars Selected

Belmont University recently announced the selection of the first six McWhorter Society Scholars. The McWhorter Society, which was formed in 2013, consists of members of the Nashville area community who are engaged in healthcare and the business of healthcare, and who choose to support future healthcare professionals from Belmont University.

Hong Receives Vaco Accounting Student Scholarship Award

Yihao Hong, a senior accounting major at Belmont University, was recently named the recipient of the Vaco Accounting Student Scholarship Award. Vaco provided a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving undergraduate student in the region, and Hong was recognized on stage at the Nashville Business Journal's Chief Financial Officer Awards on Oct. 18. He will also be included in the Oct. 27 issue of NBJ.
