Belmont University audio engineering technology students Rashod Addison, Chris Bienvenu and Nathaniel Buzzutto handled the audio recording for MidSouth Emmy-nominated "Requiem for Colour: A Journey through Lament and Joy." The students helped capture a complex, televised performance for both broadcast and a future album release, gaining real-world experience that extends far beyond the classroom.

Joanna Wu, an illustration major at Watkins College of Art, illustrated a vibrant mural at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville's Edgehill neighborhood that celebrates the local legacy of the Negro Leagues. Her design, selected from among student submissions in collaboration with Metro Arts Nashville and Metro Parks Nashville & Davidson County, incorporates imagery of community landmarks, the famed player Norman "Turkey" Stearnes and the inventive spirit of children who played baseball with makeshift equipment.

More than 50 Belmont University orchestra students and members of student performance group Chorale experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Oct. 16 - performing alongside world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli at Belmont's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. CST, this popular holiday spectacular will stream to a global audience on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. This year marks the first time the event has been available on a global streaming platform. A showcase of Belmont's musical talent through an array of traditional carols, classical masterworks and seasonal favorites, this tremendous opportunity exemplifies the enduring value of a Belmont education.

Senior design communications majors within Belmont's Watkins College of Art were recently named to Graphic Design USA magazine's "2024 Design Students to Watch" list, a prestigious recognition in the design world. This accolade acknowledges their outstanding talent and hard work, highlighting them as emerging designers with promising futures.

The Walter and Sarah Knestrick Award is given to an eligible senior major student who proposes a plan to pursue an exceptional creative endeavor post-graduation. This $5,000 award is designed for a student to pursue creative endeavors that may include but are not limited to, studio art pursuits, research projects, art/design-based businesses, or arts-related community engagement projects. Interested students submit an application that includes a project proposal defining their creative goals beyond graduation and how they plan to use the funds. All proposals must be achievable in a one-year timeframe, and the winning student will present the outcomes and reflections of their endeavor to the Watkins/Belmont community.

Selected by the President of Belmont University, this award of distinction recognizes outstanding and innovative design in the Annual Student Exhibition. This year's award recipient is Grace Massey. Grace had several exemplary projects represented in the show, including the app ReSettle: Navigate the New which aims to help immigrants and refugees navigate American life.
